Club Role - Grammarian

The purpose of the Grammarian is to help members improve their language skills by identifying the effective use of English, fillers and poor English during speeches.

The Grammarian may also introduce a "word of the day" for members to use during their speeches. The "word of the day" should be easy to incorporate into a speech. Write the "word of the day" on the whiteboard either before the meeting or when introducing it. Give an example of a sentence using the word.

Your report should identify:

use of "crutch" words, such as um, er, ah and any words which take the place of a pause at the end of a sentence.

Instances of effective word choice and grammar.

Instances of poor word choice and grammar, with examples of better choices.

Use of the "word of the day".
