What Programmes do we offer?

We have two programs, or types of learning to offer.

1. Communication

An initial series of ten basic speeches. When these are successfully completed you gain a Competent Toastmaster award (the 'CTM'). This helps members develop the basic skills to prepare & present an effective speech.

After completion of the first manual, you can start on the Advanced speeches. There are a variety of manuals to chose from (each containing five speeches), for example:

  • The Entertaining Speaker
  • Speaking to Inform
  • Public relations
  • Humorously Speaking
  • Storytelling
  • Technical Presentations
  • Persuasive Speaking
  • The Professional Speaker, and more.

Each manual helps further develop your skills. When two of these Advanced manuals are completed, you get awarded an ATM (Advanced Toastmaster) starting with Bronze (ATM-B), then Silver(ATM-S), then Gold (ATM-G).

2. Leadership

Leadership skills are learnt mostly from doing and being involved. With Toastmasters, you are never short of leadership opportunities!

All members participate in meetings. You gain all valuable leadership experience through Chairing meetings, which involves organising and leading members in the regular Wednesday morning meetings.

You can also serve on the Club Committee in a variety of roles, up to President. As our club is part of a wide community of Toastmasters clubs, there are also opportunities to further develop your leadership skills at a national level.

Toastmasters have two leadership awards, Competent Leader (CL) for involvement in club leadership, and Advanced Leader (AL) requiring involvement at a national level.
